How to apply

Five steps.
Eight hours.

From clean skin to a calm morning, here is exactly how EyeLotus goes on, holds gently all night, and comes off without a fight.

First, balance your tears and oil.

A strip seals best on a healthy, well-lubricated eye. Take a moment to see which of these fits you, and prep for it before the steps below.

Diagram of the tear ducts: the lacrimal gland above the eye makes tears, which drain through the puncta and canaliculi at the inner corner into the nasolacrimal duct

Your tears

Tears keep the surface wet. They are made above the eye and drain away at the inner corner. If they drain or evaporate too quickly, the eye dries out overnight.

If that sounds like you: apply 1 to 2 eye drops and let them soak in for 1 to 2 minutes, dry the skin around the eye, then apply the strip.

Diagram of the eye oil ducts: the meibomian glands along the upper and lower lash lines release oil that forms the top layer of the tear film and stops tears evaporating

Your eye's oil

Tiny glands along the lash line, the meibomian glands, release a thin layer of oil that stops your tears evaporating. Too little oil, and tears vanish faster.

If that sounds like you: apply a little eye ointment, let it soak in for 1 to 2 minutes, dry the skin around the eye, then apply the strip.

The steps

Cleanse, place, guide, secure, remove.

Cleanse the skin around the eyes

Step 1

Cleanse

Gently cleanse the area around your eyes to remove oils or residue before applying, and let the skin dry fully.

Place the upper half of the strip

Step 2

Place the upper half

Place the upper half of the strip on the upper eyelid, leaving a small space below the eyebrow.

Guide the strip into place

Step 3

Guide into place

Allow the lower half of the strip to fall naturally over the bottom eyelid, without tugging or pulling.

Secure the edges of the strip

Step 4

Secure

Lightly press along the edges of the strip to keep it in place.

Remove the strip gently in the morning

Step 5

Remove gently

For an easier, gentle removal, let the strip set for at least 30 minutes. Then remove it whenever you need, usually after sleep. It is designed to come away gently on sensitive skin.

Why it works

What is happening while you sleep.

Step 1 of 5

The gap. As you sleep, the eyelid drifts open a sliver. Many people never fully close their eyes, a condition called lagophthalmos.

Step 2 of 5

The dryness. Air moves across the exposed surface and the tear film evaporates, leaving the eye dry, gritty, and red. Left unchecked, this can harm the surface, what clinicians call exposure keratopathy.

Step 3 of 5

The strip. A soft, skin-safe strip rests over the eyelid and gently guides it fully closed. No pressure, no medication, nothing that enters the eye.

Step 4 of 5

The seal. The eye stays closed and moisture stays in, protected from the moving air all night. It is the same principle trusted in clinical and surgical settings to shield the eye when blinking cannot.

Step 5 of 5

The morning. It peels away gently, like a sticky note, and you wake to eyes that feel rested, not raw.

Gentle going on, gentle coming off. The removal, the skin, and a first-night wrist test. Open for the reassuring details.

Painless removal

The morning peel is designed to release gently and cleanly, leaving no sticky residue behind.

Made for sensitive skin

The adhesive is medical-grade, hypoallergenic, and latex-free, designed for the delicate skin around the eyes and for nightly use as directed.

New to it? Wrist-test first

If your skin runs reactive, place a strip on the inside of your wrist for a few hours before your first night. It lets you check comfort with zero pressure.

Tip: apply to clean, fully dry skin, no lotions or oils, for the most comfortable hold and easiest removal.

Small fixes for common sticking points.

Lifting at night: it comes loose while you sleep

Nine times out of ten this is skin prep. Cleanse away oils and makeup, let the skin dry completely, and place the strip on bare, dry skin, no lotions or eye creams first. Press the upper half gently along the lid so it sits flush before you lie down.

Oily skin: the strip won't hold

Oily skin sheds adhesive. Wash with a gentle, oil-free cleanser, pat dry, and wait a minute for the skin to fully dry before applying. Avoid heavy night creams around the eye on the nights you wear it.

Sticky removal: it feels hard to peel off

If it still feels too sticky after clean, dry application, place a warm, damp cloth over the area for 20 to 30 seconds before peeling to loosen the adhesive, or simply remove it under warm running water. Next time, apply 1 to 2 eye drops and let them fully absorb before placing the strip on clean, dry skin, so the eye stays comfortable and well lubricated overnight.

Restroom breaks: what if I need to get up at night?

You can peel a strip off briefly, then press it back onto its adhesive peel-strip liner and reapply it for the rest of the night. A strip should not be reused from one night to the next, though, so start each night with a fresh, clean pair.

CPAP fit: using it with a machine

EyeLotus is compatible with CPAP. It sits below the mask line and holds its seal against the airflow, which is exactly the air that dries the eye overnight. Fit the strip first, then your mask.

Lashes & glasses: extensions or eyewear

The strip rests on the lid, above the lash line, and is designed to peel away gently. Glasses come off before sleep, so there is no interaction. If you have extensions right at the lid line, do a wrist test first to confirm comfort.
